HP LaserJet Regionalization Program Article

HP LaserJet Regionalization program which began in May 2016, invests in protecting its partners, customers, and the HP brand against grey marketing products which can disrupt operations.

Products will be zoned by dividing into two region zones, aligned to HP’s definition of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA); and the rest of the world (ROW).

The map below indicates how the products will be mapped out:

What is Grey marketed products?

These are products bought and sold outside of the manufacturer's authorized trading channels.

The benefits of this program:

·           Prevents Grey marketed product from crossing borders and undercutting partners

·           Upholds a brand value which benefits partners and customers

·           Provides HP with greater legal options and remedies against contract violators, which in turn benefits its partners

·           Allows regulators and investigators to trace origins in compliance reviews and audits

Who will be impacted by this change?

People using out-of-zone toner cartridges in their printers will be impacted.

Products which are regionalized are as follows:

How will one know that the cartridge is from the correct region zone?

Messaging on the HP cartridges boxes will alert the customers and channel partners to the region zone for which the product is intended.

Message appears as the following:

What if there is no ROW/EMEA zone identification on the box? Is it ok to use this cartridge?

If there is no zone indicator on the cartridge box, then the cartridge is a “universal” cartridge and is not regionalized. This cartridge can be used with any regionalized or non-regionalized printer, in any zone
